Top Reasons To Attend the 2021 Roof Top Tent Rally

Do you have your tickets yet for this year's Roof Top Tent Rally? Now in it's 5th year, this collaboration between the James River State Park and Blue Ridge Overland Gear is a family friendly event for overlanders and outdoor adventure lovers who are looking to be immersed in the natural beauty of Virginia, meet some fellow enthusiasts, enjoy the James River, and much more.

Join us October 15-17, 2021 at the James River State Park in Gladstone, Virginia. The Roof Top Tent Rally will only be 30 minutes away from Overland Expo East (October 8-10) so if you wanted to plan some time in and around the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia this event would be a great, relaxing end to a full overlanding trip.

1. PLENTY OF ROOM TO SPREAD OUT
   This is a small event with a 200 vehicle limit. The park is literally 1440 acres so, while the camping area will be in a defined area, there is plenty of room to explore, hike, kayak, and more.
   
   
2. TICKET PRICE IS PER VEHICLE
   Last year because of COVID restrictions event tickets were sold per person but this year your whole family can attend for one easy price.
   
   
3. ENJOYING WATER SPORTS
   If you love kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and fishing this is the place for you. James River State Park is most notable for its amazing views and easy access to the James River. The 1440-acre park is one of the newest in the state of Virginia and boasts three miles of river frontage. It is also home to three fishing ponds. These include Green Hill Pond (2 acres), Branch Pond (5 acres), and Taylor Pond (1 acre). Fishing regulations apply.
   
   
4. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A ROOF TOP TENT
   Even though this event is called a Roof Top Tent Rally you actually don't have to own a roof top tent to attend. But it certainly is a great place to do some comparisons if you are thinking of buying one in the near future. Ground tents and off-road trailers (under 20ft.) are welcome. RVs and freestanding campers are not permitted at this event.
   
   
5. OVERLANDING VENDORS AND CLASSES
   We will be there along with a number of other overland gear vendors. This is a great context for asking questions and learning more about some great products that will make your overland travel better and more enjoyable.
   
   There also will be some basic workshops if you are interested, including: Wilderness Medical, Overland Navigation, Off-Road Recovery, etc. You can pick and choose what you want to learn - or skip the classes and just enjoy the park.
   
   
6. MEETING FELLOW OVERLANDERS & OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS
   If you love overlanding, camping, and generally being in the outdoors this is a great event for meeting people of like mind. There are some great folks in the overlanding community and small events like this make it easy to meet people. Who knows, you may find new life-long friends who become traveling companions.
   
   
7. LOCAL BREWS & LIVE MUSIC
   Local brews and live music have been a part of the Roof Top Tent Rally from the start. Kick back, relax and soak up the good vibes in the Great Outdoors.
   
   
8. FAMILY FRIENDLY
   Whether you have a whole truck full of kiddos or you just have one bambino this is a great event that caters to fun for all ages - including hiking trails, river access, playgrounds, activities, and more. And if you have fur baby K9's they can come too as long as they stay leashed at all times. Human children can roam freely. ;)

   If you like winning gear you may appreciate the multiple raffles and door prizes that pop up through-out the event.
   
   
10. WE GET TO MEET IN PERSON!
